One of the most outstanding things about our town is its heritage, handed down to us by the different cultures that have made it a jewel of Andalusian historical heritage.
Man-made monuments, from dolmens to baroque churches, make Antequera a place where the imagination can run riot. Monuments of nature, from the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra lake to the Torcal mountain range where water is king; the former a refuge for flamingos and the latter a mysterious testament to the power of water to wear down stone and cause a mountain to rise out of the depths of the sea.
Past Antequera, from Campillos to Teba and from Ardales to Bobadilla, the rivers meet castles and fortresses, combining nature and history in one of the most attractive tourist routes in Andalusia. |

Antequera is 45 kilometres from Malaga city and can be reached leaving the capital via Las Pedrizas motorway. After some thirty minutes, the Valley spreads out before us. Before our eyes is a fertile plain with plantations and typical Andalusian country houses surrounded by cereal and vegetable crops. With over 800 Km2, which makes it the largest town district in the province, Antequera extends from the centre of the district to the boundaries with the province of Cordoba to the north. |
